The Michigan Workforce Training and Education Collaborative (MWTEC) is proud to serve as the fiscal agent and service provider for the Educational Programs in Collaboration (EPiC) Consortium, a statewide alliance of two- and four-year institutions committed to expanding access to high-quality education and workforce training for Michigan students.
About the EPiC Consortium
The EPiC Consortium brings together colleges across Michigan to collaboratively design and deliver hybrid and online educational programs. These programs are structured to be accessible, industry-aligned, and responsive to regional workforce demands. Each student remains enrolled at their home institution while benefiting from the collective resources, expertise, and infrastructure of the Consortium.
MWTEC's Role
As the fiscal agent and operational backbone, MWTEC ensures the Consortium’s seamless functionality by:
Hosting a centralized online platform for course delivery and registration
Providing student and faculty training for online learning
Administering shared services such as programmatic oversight
Coordinating articulation agreements and credit transfer processes
Managing program budgets and distributing revenues and expenses equitably among members
MWTEC also employs key program personnel, such as Program Directors and Clinical Coordinators, with costs covered by the Consortium. All staffing decisions and program expansions are collaboratively approved by EPiC members.
A Unified Governance Structure
EPiC operates under a dual-tier leadership model:
The Consortium Leadership Committee, consisting of senior administrators from each member institution and MWTEC’s President or designee, governs strategy, policy, and programmatic oversight.
Program Advisory Committees, composed of faculty and staff from participating colleges, guide curriculum development and ensure program effectiveness and accreditation.
Empowering Institutions, Serving Students
Each participating institution maintains full responsibility for their students’ academic success and institutional compliance. Meanwhile, MWTEC ensures that each EPiC program meets the highest standards of instructional quality, operational efficiency, and financial transparency.
A Vision for Collective Good
Together, MWTEC and EPiC are building a scalable, equitable educational ecosystem—one that enables Michigan learners to earn degrees, certificates, and industry-recognized credentials in high-demand fields, all while strengthening the workforce pipeline across the state.
All Michigan community colleges are welcome and encouraged to join the EPiC Consortium.
